We designed two-day shoot that showcased all four seasons at The Lesner Inn and called it A season for every bride and it was an absolute honor work with some of Hampton Road’s most talented wedding vendors. This week’s blog highlights our Summer wedding design. Our Director designed & styled this shoot, so we asked her to share more about what inspired her with this design.
Summer is our favorite time of year in Virginia Beach, so it was so fun to design this season for the shoot. Born & raised in this giant sandbox, I’ve always loved going to the beach. And more often than not, my Yiayia (grandmom) was my beach partner in crime. Whether we were in Greece or in VB, we’d visit the beach twice a day – before & after our afternoon siestas. My Yiayia played such an influential role in my life, so I was inspired to bring this shoot close to my roots. So I incorporated Greek elements with my favorite parts of Virginia Beach to create an elegant wedding on the water.
CEREMONY
I pulled elements from a traditional church ceremony by using the *church window panes from Paisley & Jade, with florals from The Wandering Petal, and custom fans by PaperDolls Design.
The model bride was dressed in a modern style wedding gown (from Studio I Do) that went perfectly with the theme.
COCKTAIL HOUR
I asked PaperDolls to create a foam board with Greek tiles that I could slide into Paisley & Jade’s shadowbox bar. I asked The Wandering Petal to add greenery & lemons to the copper truss that I added to the bar, and as per usual, she absolutely crushed the look. Add Greek wines to the table top, et VOILA. Obsessed!
RECEPTION
I love the idea of a cocktail style, lounge focused wedding. I used the Linden sofa & pair of chairs from Paisley & Jade, along with their neutral poufs, and gold/glass coffee table. The floral centerpiece & the rattan chandeliers from Stage Right Lighting were the perfect summer accent to the lounge. And let’s not forget the “I’ve got you babe” neon sign that we rent at Lesner Inn. So freaking cute as a photo op moment!
And for the seating, I used a mixture of tall & low tables with crisp white linens from Waterford Event Rentals. And I’m obsessed with The Collection by Courtney Inghram so I rented their chargers, glassware & flatware.
I hired Kristina Sideri to design the cake which was a square shaped cake with tiles – she nailed it!
As a final touch, I incorporated more Greek elements by writing “I love you” in Greek on the back of the place cards (S’agapo). And of course, we can’t have a Greek inspired wedding without the mati (evil eye). I bought these off of Amazon, but you can buy them in bulk off of Etsy if you want!
