Even though everyone keeps saying “Summer is almost over” – we’re here to tell you, it’s not! August & September are still big summer months – and extremely busy for wedding season. The weather is beautiful, the sun is shining, and the days are longer… but the temperatures are hot. Let’s face it. Wedding dresses can be heavy, and tuxedos can be hot! We’re here to give you the tips and tricks to ensure you and your guests are enjoying your wedding day while stay as cool as possible. There are so many ways to make the most of it while staying comfortable.

Offer Cold Food & Drinks

If you have an outdoor ceremony, guests are bound to need a cool-off. Offer them a cold beverage or treat immediately following the ceremony! A simple grab-and-go beverage post-ceremony goes such a long way. Another fan-favorite treat we’ve seen is ice cream! We absolutely LOVE the Gelato cart from Incredible Edibles and the mini-ice cream pints from Lolly’s Creamery!

Stay Hydrated

One of the most important tips of all- hydration! Offer multiple ice-water stations for your guests so hydration is always available. Especially if alcohol is being served, having water easily accessible is even more important!

Supply Fans

Handheld fans are such an easy favor for your guests! A fun personal touch is adding your program information to a handheld fan for your guests. This tip is fairly inexpensive and is a sure way to ensure your guests stay cool!

Set Clear Expectations

Make sure to be very transparent with your guests about the attire for your wedding. If your party is outdoors or in a non-airconditioned space (like Lesner Inn’s indoor/outdoor deck The Waterside Deck), make sure to let your guests know so they can plan their attire accordingly. Ladies, we recommend wearing something strapless, short, open-back, has cut-out features, or an outfit with skinny straps. A great fabric to consider is silk, and a wise color choice would be light colors (especially if out in the sun!).

Men, a wise choice would be a breathable silk white-collared short and a lighter colored jacket. Layering is best, as you can always take the jacket off when it is time to dance!

As a bride, it is extremely important to consider the attire of your bridesmaids and groomsmen. If getting married outdoors in the middle of summer, dark and long-sleeve options are not the wisest choice. Opt-in for lighter colors and more breathable fabrics like silk, linen and cotton!

Serve Hydrating Food

Choose foods that are packed with a high-water content! Avocado, Cucumber, Tomatoes, Watermelon, and Pineapple are all fruits and vegetables that are fantastically hydrating (and delicious!). For cocktail hour, choose our Cucumber Tuna Salad Bites and our Hawaiian Chicken Bites for automatic hydration. Check out our Wedding Menus here. Pro tip: offer a Watermelon Signature Cocktail (or mocktail) for maximum hydration while drinking.
