One of the most – if not the most – important decisions you will make when it comes to your wedding is where you will get married. For so many of us, choosing a spot that is local makes the most sense. But for those who are looking for an out-of-town location, a destination wedding might be just the right choice for you.

While all of us here at Lesner Inn are lucky enough to call Virginia Beach our home, we have so many who come from out of town wanting to host their wedding in this beautiful beachside city, making it a great destination wedding location.

When planning a destination wedding, it seems the trend is gearing more towards an entire weekend full of events to really make it a great experience for their guests who travelled far and wide. And we aren’t mad at all.

So, what does a destination wedding weekend look like in Virgina Beach?

Day 1: Welcome Party on the beach

Whether you’re on the bay or at the oceanfront, who doesn’t love a beach day? And doing this doesn’t cost a dime for the space. Just be sure to snag a spot early if you are covering a large area during those beautiful summer months. You aren’t the only one who enjoys the beaches so better to be safe than sorry! If the weather doesn’t hold up – no problem! If you are at the oceanfront, pivot to Beachside Social for fun games and drinking indoors! And for those on the Bay, consider visiting The Delta Marriott’s Tin Cup for some Sunset cocktails on the beach, Shorebreak for some pizza & pool, or any of the restaurants on the water.

Day 2: Rehearsal Dinner on the water

This day gives your guests time to go do a few tourist things on their own while you and your bridal party tackle the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. Brownie points if your rehearsal is at one of our fav spots next door: The Back Deck or Bubba’s!

Day 3: It’s Wedding Day!

Our favorite day of the weekend – wedding day! And what a better spot to get married at than one with a gorgeous view of the water. No matter the weather, there is just something about gazing out the big glass windows at Lesner Inn that makes us feel so serene. From the I do’s to the cake cutting to dancing until your feet fall off, the beautiful details and architecture of Lesner Inn make for the perfect space to create those important memories that will last a lifetime.  And as the beautiful sunset fades into the night and the fun is over, well, we know it’s not really over; head to The Back Deck for the after party!

Day 4: Recovery Brunch

If your guests are planning on sticking around the day after the wedding, a brunch is a great extra and easy gathering. Virginia Beach is home to a long list of some fantastic brunch spots. A few of our favs include: Bay Local, The Porch and Sessions. But if you’re looking for something private, consider renting the upstairs deck at Bubba’s. Or visiting The Back Deck for $8 personal pitchers of Mimosas & Bloody Mary’s.

The experience of a destination wedding weekend is one you and your guests will soon not forget! The alluring sunsets, the delicious seafood and the fantastic local brews are just some of what makes Virginia Beach such a great place to host your destination wedding.
