A Timeline for Your Big Day

| , , , , ,

You’ve planned almost everything for your big day but there’s one thing that just isn’t set in stone yet, the timeline. The managers at Lesner Inn know that a timeline won’t be followed to an exact “T” on your wedding day, but it is a necessity to have for your vendors to make sure the order of events stays pretty well in check. Maybe you have an idea of what you want to do or you’re completely lost when it comes to creating a timeline for the biggest day of your life…no worries! Keep reading and find out how to create the perfect timeline starting when you arrive at the venue!

First things first! Will you be doing a first look? Before your guests arrive and after you’ve had a glass, or two, of bubbly some couples like to have a moment with just their fiancé. A moment where it’s just them, the photographer, and their love – a first look. Most couples do it so they get some intimate photos before the ceremony starts and to have some alone time before the hustle and bustle begins. The decision to have a first look can be added to a timeline just few days before as long as you talk to your photographer and find a perfect spot for that moment!

Once you’ve had that intimate time with your soon to be spouse or decided to just hang out with the bridal party before guests arrive, the next part of your timeline is the ceremony! The highlight of the night, the whole reason friends and family are gathered, and the most nerve racking part (in the best way!). There’s a few things to think about for the ceremony: how you would like the wedding party to proceed in, if you want grandparents to proceed in too, and if you’re doing anything to symbolize unity. This generally is something in the form a unity candle or sand but you can put your own twist to it and make it something completely unique to you!

After “I do’s”, the real party starts! Cocktail hour is kicked off with hors d’oeuvres and your guests’ favorite part of the wedding, the bar, opens! You and your new spouse will head off to take photos at this time while your guests are mingling and enjoying a few nibbles. You’re able to focus on where your photographer needs you to look for those Instagram worthy photos you’ll be posting later.

Last but not least, we have the reception! This is where you can really customize your timeline and add or remove the “traditional” wedding things. You can do dances whenever you’d like, have multiple people do a toast, or even cut out the bouquet and garter toss and that’s totally okay! Weddings have become very nontraditional so you can really make the timeline into however you want the night to go! One thing doesn’t change…dinner, but after dinner, the rest of the night is yours so take it away! Customize the timeline so you love every minute because it flies by – just make sure your vendors are all on the same page!

If you’re still nervous about it all, just hire a day-of coordinator! We highly suggest this no matter what but definitely if you’re a little worried about the timeline. Here at Lesner Inn, we offer day-of coordination services so just ask a manager about what we can do for you and some other fun tips we might have to keep you relaxed, happy, and ready for your big day!
