Self-Care & You

| , , , ,

Weddings. If you’re lucky you may be flying through all the planning, meetings, and tastings without feeling any stress or worries about deadlines, payments, and timelines. However, we at Lesner Inn understand that sometimes you may just feel overwhelmed, stressed and confused about the whole thing, which is why we’d like to share some of our favorite wedding de-stress tips and tricks when planning and leading up to your wedding!

Be Kind

The first thing you need to do is take a minute, breath, and remember to be kind to yourself. If you make a mistake throughout your wedding process, then remember that it’s okay to make mistakes and do not beat yourself up for it. Instead, step back, fix the mistake, learn from it and keep moving on because there’s no reason to agonize and berate yourself for something that can be fixed or dropped for something even better! In fact, take 10-15 minutes before going to bed or right when you wake up in the morning to do something that makes you happy. It can be as simple as having a glass of wine while reading a good book before bed or finding the perfect spot to do a little bit of light stretching to start the day! Just do anything that makes you happy and remember to be kind to yourself because your biggest obstacle in life is yourself, so learn to be your biggest supporter instead.

Exercise & Nutrition

Running, walking the dog, boxing, yoga, and more. There are so many ways to get a little bit of exercise in your day to help manage your physical and mental stress! Releasing endorphins and norepinephrine to combat that sloggish 3 o’clock feeling and built up stress, exercise can make you feel ready to start a new project, finish an old task, or just dive into finishing up all those wedding details! However, if you’re not much of a working out type then don’t worry! Try some other fun alternatives like walking around the neighborhood or  trail, go bowling with some friends, go golfing, or do one of my favorites – shopping! As for nutrition, a brain friendly diet includes fruits, veggies, whole grains, and low fat dairy. However, there’s no need to change your eating habit! Instead, add a fruity-walnut shake to your morning or make a veggie snack pack to take on any wedding meetings you have that day! A little bit of brain food can change your whole mood!

Date Nights

Wedding planning can and may dominate your conversations so it’s always good to take a step back and make time for yourselves. Pick a day at least 3-5x a month to dedicate to a date night with your significant other and family. Have dinner at a fancy restaurant, go for a walk on a scenic route, watch a movie, or stay at home. Whichever you decide to do, be sure to ban all wedding talk. No guest count questions, seating chart displays, or any other wedding related topic. Instead take the time to re-focus on each other and the love between you two.

Re-Imagine Your Meetings

Have a vendor meeting and a 2 o’clock salon appointment in the opposite direction? Don’t be afraid to ask your vendor to meet you for coffee in the middle or just go anywhere outside of an office because sometimes just being in a different space can keep your ideas flowing and your stress at a minimum! Don’t forget to also be pro-active in these meeting, especially when creating your timeline. Stick with realistic goals and don’t be afraid to ask questions!

Massages & Face Masks

You can never go wrong with a face mask or massage to de-stress. In fact, as a Lesner Inn couple you get 4 free sessions at Method Wellness on Shore Drive, so why not take some time out of your day to relax in a sauna or get a massage. You may even be interested in some of the other options they offer like hot stones and facials or you can always stop by your nearest convenience store, pick up your favorite face mask, go home, and relax in a warm bubble bath and some wine!

Lastly, you can’t do it alone so don’t feel bad to ask those you trust for help. If you don’t want to add to their plate then think about hiring a wedding planner, day of coordinator or wedding designer to help you!
