|

The Lesner Inn is delighted to announce our new partnership with The Hyatt Place located in the heart of Virginia Beach – Town Center! The Lesner Inn prides itself in being able to vet every vendor we partner with and the Hyatt Place Town Center just goes beyond our expectations, which is why we sat down with them to give you the 411 on the Hyatt Place and talk about one of the biggest questions couples have – block booking!

What makes the Hyatt Place different from other hotels and accommodations?

The first thing is location, as we are right off the interstate making it easy to get to and easy to get to all the wonderful places within Hampton Roads. Next would be our roomy rooms. They are rooms are very spacious, some even call them suites since every room have a living room area with a L-shaped sleeper sofa. The Hyatt Place is also one of the newest hotels in the area so it has its perks. This Hyatt Place opened in 2019. We also have on-site meeting spaces, which is perfect for grooms to get ready or to have everyone meet up for a private breakfast the day after the wedding! The best part? We’re affordable! Being off the oceanfront, our prices tend to be a more economical options for guests! Lastly, parking is a big one since we have a large open parking lot, great for buses & vans.  (some folks do not like shared parking garages).

What additional amenities does the Hyatt Place offer that we are unaware of?

We have complimentary meeting spaces with a specific number of rooms picked up in group block, complimentary breakfast, complimentary parking & Wi-Fi, dining options on site & around hotel property, a fitness Center, we’re pet friendly, digital Key access, we use digital check in, have business center services, meeting facilities and an indoor pool (currently unavailable due to Covid-19).

What is there to do around your location?

You can walk over to TOWN CENTER – at the heart of Virginia Beach, the Town Center district is the place to be for a night of high-end shopping, dining, and entertainment. Discover the perfect setting for a fun family day out or a romantic evening with dinner and drinks. Laugh the night away at the Funny Bone Comedy Club or relish in live entertainment brought to you by the Sandler Center of The Performing Arts or Zeider’s American Dream Theatre.

We are also right next to PEMBROKE MALL – the perfect shopping center with plenty of options! Conveniently located across the street from Hyatt Place. Historically, the very first mall to open in Hampton Roads, in 1966. After celebrating its re-grand opening on august 4, 2013, Pembroke Mall welcomed several new stores such as Target, Old Navy, The Children’s Place Outlet and Bahama Breeze. Over 60 shops to choose from including Kohl’s, J. Crew Factory, Nordstrom Rack, Coastal Edge and much more! Plus, you can get any last minute gift-wrapping or letters that you may have forgotten!

What’s a fun fact about the Hyatt Place?

We are Pet Friendly – so bring your furry family members with you!

Block Booking & Advice

How does block booking work?

Photo: Cat DeLine Photography

The Hyatt Place offers Courtesy Block Agreements for our Wedding groups! We offer 15 rooms (mix of kings & double queen bed rooms) to start off with- once original amount is picked up, we add more to the block if needed. We do not charge for any rooms not picked up in the group block- they are released to the general public once your 30 day, prior to check-in cutoff date has passed. Once we receive a signed Courtesy Block Agreement, we set-up the group block & personalized booking website. Then we send to the group contact to add to their wedding website or send out to family/guests needing lodging.

What’s the best way to word block booking information to guests?

We suggest the group contact adds the personalized booking website link & reservation number that we will provide, to their wedding website or send out on invitations.

How far in advance should couples block rooms and make accommodations?

If During the Summer or a Holiday Weekend ASAP or 6 months to a Year.

What should couples avoid when booking?

We normally require all group blocks from April- October to have a 2-night minimum stay, if on the weekend. We recommend the group contact to reach out to out of town guests attending & ask about how many nights they plan on staying before reaching out for a quote. Discounted group rates are dependent on length of stay & rates can vary significantly based on 2 vs. 3- or 4-night stays.

What’s the biggest question couples should be asking when booking for their accommodations?

    • Do you charge for un-reserved rooms in group blocks?
    • Is there a minimum stay requirement?
    • Is there a shuttle to my venue? How far is the hotel from my venue?

It is a good idea for the group contact to reach out to us for a Rooming List of guests who have booked throughout the process, so they can send a reminder to those who have not reserved a room, before the group cutoff date passes & rooms may no longer be available at the group rate.

What is one piece of advice you would give to couples?

We would advise couples to start inquiring about room blocks far in advance when planning their wedding. Most couples do not start thinking about this until much later in the planning process & it can be very difficult to find a room block, especially during the summer season if waited too long. The earlier the better, the more availability, & better discounts.

For The Couples

What are some great first look areas around the Hyatt Place for couples to take their photos at?

Photo: Cat DeLine Photography

We could set up one of our meeting spaces for a first look beforehand or our lobby area is nice, minimal, and clean so it would not take away from the couple or whoever would like to be in the first look. There is also a beautiful fountain space in the middle of Town Center that would be a nice first look area.

Is there something special you do for your newlyweds or in the bridal suite?

We are happy to place a complimentary bottle of wine in the room. We also have a list of vendors who can decorate/deliver flowers, etc. to their room beforehand

What trends have you seen in 2021 when it comes to guests? Do couples leave gifts, favors, baskets, etc. in their room?

Yes! We have had couples drop off “goodie bags” for their guests beforehand & our hotel staff can place in their room or hand out at check in.

The Hyatt now offers double world of Hyatt points to LESNER INN couples. Tell us a bit about your Hyatt point rewards program? How does it work and what can couples experience when joining?

World of Hyatt is free to join & available to do so at check-in or online when booking a room! Once you are a World of Hyatt member– you start receiving reward points for all of your stays, at any Hyatt brand hotel. These points add up to free night stays, spa rewards, dining rewards etc. at Hyatt hotels all over the world. Hyatt members rise in tier once they gain certain amounts of points & at each level, guests receive perks to their stay such as early check-in, late check-out, complimentary bottled water, room upgrades, etc.
